More than 25 years ago, a simple act of kindness sparked something extraordinary. While visiting her sister in medical school, Barbara Haramis met a young boy battling leukemia. He spent his days alone in a hospital bed, wishing for just one thing-a Nintendo Gameboy to help pass the time. Barbara couldn't cure his illness, but she could bring him joy. She cought him that Gameboy, and in that moment, the idea for Childhood Leukemia Foundation was born.
Since then, Barbara has dedicated her life to helping children with cancer feel supported, connected, and card for. What started as one gift has grown into a national non-profit that has touched the lives of thousands of childrn across the country.
Today, CLF4Kids continues to thrive under Barbara's leadership, fueled by compassion, innovation, and the belief that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. With the help of generous donors, grant makers, and a dedicated team, we're creating brighter days for children who need it most.
Barbara says: "We're just ordinary people doing extraordinary things for kids with cancer."

CLF4Kids is committed to using every donation and resource effectively to support children battling cancer and their families. We ensure mission alignment, measure program outcomes, and practice strong financial stewardship. Each program is evaluated for participation, reach, and meaningful outcomes such as emotional well-being, comfort during treatment, and educational engagement. CLF4Kids follows strict nonprofit governance standards, maintains GuideStar Platinum Transparency status, and continuously improves services based on feedback from families, hospitals, and social workers.
All programs are reviewed to ensure they are accessible, relevant, and delivered with care and cultural sensitivity. We welcome input from donors, families, medical professionals, and volunteers, as your feedback helps us strengthen our impact. Together, we are lifting spirits and creating moments of joy, comfort, and learning for the children who need them most.
In 2025, CLF4Kids (Childhood Leukemia Foundation) advanced its mission by delivering programs that support children’s emotional and educational needs during cancer treatment. Through STEAM and Educational Wish Baskets, iPads that keep kids connected, and preparations for the upcoming Birthday Box Program, we focused on enriching the hospital experience and helping children stay engaged and supported.
Program feedback shows strong impact: parents reported greater emotional engagement, most children used their iPads daily, and social workers confirmed our programs fill meaningful gaps in care. With the help of donors, partners, and hospital staff, CLF4Kids continues to strengthen its offerings and expand meaningful moments of hope for the families we serve.
At CLF4Kids (Childhood Leukemia Foundation), we are committed to providing clear, accurate, and transparent information about our mission, programs, and use of donor funds.
